Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru Review / Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru Movie Review : Dhuruvangal 16 is an investigative thriller directed by Karthick Naren, aged 21. The story takes place in and around Coimbatore, and we have a retired and paralyzed buddy, Deepak conversing with a young police aspirant about the most complicated and changing case he's manipulated. We are shown many possible versions of the criminal incidents that may have taken place and it is a guessing game until the end, with constant twists. You must be constantly perfected in procedures to connect points properly in your mind. An incredible effort of a young filmmaker to show such a commandment on the craft in his very first film.

The complex and intelligent nature of Karthick's script and the non-linear editing models of Sreejith Sarang are a great addition. This is not the kind of film where you can sit back, relax with a popcorn and put out your minds. A welcome relief from stupid animators! Karthick has a bright future ahead.
- Sound design, sound mixing and background score are top notch. Visually, the film has a smooth look with particularly standing rain scenes. Karthick Naren, DoP Sujith Sarang, editor-in-chief Sreejith Sarang, composer Jakes Bejoy and all the crew present themselves as solid technicians.
- The dialogues are discreet and classy in nature. The scenes where Rahman works on the case with his curious younger colleague are reinforced by good lines on the police investigation, a police officer's expectations and intuition factor. The police atmosphere was precisely presented by Karthick.
- Rahman shows an impressive screen presence as the aging cop, and salt and pepper look is a majestic addition to his beautiful look. But his accented Tamil leaves unexpectedly, sometimes.
- Outside of Rahman and Delhi Ganesh, the rest of the actors are newcomers. There is naturally amateurism in their performances. This factor can prevent the film from connecting to a large part of the masses. But, among this fresh lot, Prakash (like young gendarme Gautham) and Santosh Krishna (like arrogant young Fabien) make a mark.
