A day after being sworn in, The AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa, took charge as Chief Minister at her office in Fort St. George Today.The AIADMK chief took charge at her office in the Tamil Nadu Secretariat in the CM's room.
Starting her fifth stint as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa announced development and welfare measures worth over Rs. 1,800 crore, including for improving roads and drinking water facilities and extending assistance to needy families headed by women.
“Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered improvement of roads in urban local bodies at a cost of Rs. 1,000 crore,” a State government release said.Under a Rs. 800-crore ‘Tamil Nadu Rural Roads Development Scheme’, a 3,500-km stretch of road will be taken up for development this fiscal.“The Chief Minister has given consent for a special housing scheme for the poor in town panchayat areas,” it said.
