Thoppil Joppan tells the story of a Kabbadi player (Mammootty) who lives in Kattappana and is obsessed with drinking. The regular shooting and the principal photography of the film Thoppil Joppan began in April 2016 Ernakulam. With music and background score composed by Vidyasagar, the film is scheduled for release October 7, 2016 for the festival. The music and background score for the film is composed by Vidyasagar, who worked with Johny Antony several times. The soundtrack and audio album of the film consists of six songs, with lyrics written by Vayalar Sarath Rafeeq Ahammed and Chandra Varma.
The actor Mammootty is considered Thoppil Joppan in the film. Andrea Jeremiah is regarded as Annie, a former lover of Joppan where as Mamta Mohandas is considered Maria, a medical student.
