Thaman father has been a drummer who used to play drums under different music directors. His financial life was very good until 11 years of age. At the age of 11 Thaman has lost his father which has put his family into financial crisis. For the sake of survival Thaman has opted the musical profession leaving his studies.
He explained it very deliberately stating that his family comprises of three members after the demise of his father. He has sister and mother. After losing his father, he was left with no choice except to take the responsibility of his family. When he was studying sixth he has left the studies completely. Balasubramanyam and Gangai Amaran has given him the opportunity in the orchestra. He has worked for more than 4000 shows. After that he has worked under many music directors like RP Patnaik, Devi Sri Prasad, Rajkoti, Vandemataram Srinivas among the others. With the movie Kick he has established as the music director.
